Radiation Therapist Position

Location: Hackettstown, New Jersey

Shift: 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday

Job Overview

• Deliver planned radiation therapy treatments accurately with minimal supervision.
• Operate treatment units and maintain visual and audible communication with patients during therapy.
• Perform daily and monthly quality assurance (QA) on linear accelerators (linac) and CT equipment.
• Accurately perform Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), and portal imaging.
• Conduct CT simulation for radiation therapy following protocols, including respiratory gating and ACQ simulation.
• Construct immobilization devices and electron/cerrobend blocks as needed.
• Use IV contrast for simulation when required.
• Complete procedure verification assessments in MOSAIQ prior to simulation.
• Lead CT simulation training for therapists, including QA and mould room duties.
• Manage MOSAIQ system for treatment scheduling, prescription verification, and documentation.
• Attend weekly chart rounds and review treatment planning parameters.
• Follow all department policies, safety standards, and radiation protection principles (ALARA).
• Operate CT on rails for IGRT delivery and create electronic IGRT documentation.
• Maintain accurate treatment records and monitor any changes in treatment plans.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved Radiation Therapy course.
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification and registration.
• Strongly preferred experience with IMRT, 3D conformal therapy, SBRT, Cone Beam CT (CBCT), and Align RT technology.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks (89 days converted to weeks).

Additional Notes

• Must adhere to department dress code and safety procedures.
• Responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions related to patient treatment.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and proper use of patient handling equipment (e.g., slide board, ceiling lift) is required.
