Sonographer (US / Vascular Technologist)

Location: Salisbury, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday through Friday (10-hour shifts: 7a-5p, 8a-6p, or 9a-7p)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Call: Alternating call with possible occasional weekend call; schedule may expand to evenings or weekends based on patient demand
Orientation: 8 hours non-billable orientation (guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation)


Job Summary

Seeking a Dual Certified Technologist in Ultrasound and Vascular Lab to perform diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures independently with minimal supervision. The role requires making detailed observations of patient anatomy and abnormalities, interpreting clinical data, and collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare team members.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an Allied Health Program in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine, or as a Registered Nurse
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification via ARDMS verification
  • Current registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Vascular Sonographer, including experience within the last year
  • Experience as an Ultrasound Technologist

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular and ultrasound diagnostic procedures, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness
  • Make reliable judgments based on extensive knowledge of human anatomy
  • Identify and report unsuspected anomalies beyond requested procedures
  • Maintain and properly use imaging equipment valued at approximately $700,000, including vascular/ultrasound devices, radiology computer terminals, printers, and PACS hardware
  • Monitor economic usage of supplies
  • Maintain close patient contact during procedures lasting up to 60 minutes, including exposure to unclothed patients of the opposite sex
  • Collaborate frequently with physicians, nursing staff, radiology personnel, and occasionally with sales or technology specialists
  • Complete all procedures by the end of the day; overtime may be required
  • Respond to disaster situations as needed
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance and demonstrate personal responsibility

Work Environment and Conditions

  • Day shift with alternating call and possible weekend coverage
  • Procedures may require handling interruptions and stress while maintaining accuracy
  • Frequent communication with multiple healthcare professionals for patient care coordination
  • Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted (100-mile radius restriction)

Additional Notes

  • Client may cancel assignment up to 12 hours before the shift during the 13-week contract
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Must be able to work independently and show initiative in clinical assessments
