Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Delaware, Seaford

Job Overview

• Provide care for emergency patients of all ages (birth to death) including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, pediatric, stroke, and general medical cases.
• Perform triage using Emergency Severity Index (ESI), patient assessment, IV insertion, cardiac monitoring, blood draws, medication administration, trauma resuscitation, codes, and patient teaching.
• Work in a 23-bed Emergency Department with 5+ surge area beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: standard 4:1; critical care 1:1 or 2:1.
• Use Cerner electronic charting system (except stroke, codes, trauma use paper flowsheets).
• Equipment includes cardiac monitors, defibrillators, Omnicell medication system, Level One, and Ranger.

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (typically 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
• 36 hours per week.
• Rotating weekends required (every other or every third weekend).
• No call time required.
• No working alone in the ED.

Orientation & Training

• 8 hours of non-billable orientation.
• First day with educator and 2 shifts (12 hours each) with preceptor on the unit.
• Must follow PPE guidelines: N95 mask with Persons Under Investigation (PUI)/COVID patients and face shield use with all patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Delaware
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• TNCC
• NIHSS

Additional Information

• Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted.
• Client may cancel assignment up to 12 hours before shift during a 13-week assignment.
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs and non-slip shoes.
• Floating to other units is rare and only in response to codes.
