Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend shifts are required
• Floating is limited to other MedSurg units

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Unexpired driver’s license must be submitted with the application
• Any hits on the professional license must be disclosed at submission

Unit Details

• Med-surg unit with private rooms
• Patient ratio: 1:6–7
• No patient monitors on the unit; telemetry patients are monitored remotely
• No nurse-led strip reading
• Respiratory support on the unit includes BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow, managed by respiratory therapy

Patient Population

• Primarily post-surgical and orthopedic patients
• Also cares for med-surg, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end-of-life, and low-volume inpatient chemotherapy patients
• May be assigned to both higher-acuity and lower-acuity patient areas at the same time

Orientation

• 1 shift with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Navy blue scrubs are required, including jackets if worn
• Self-scheduling and blocked schedules are allowed if unit needs are met
