Job Overview
- Provide routine and emergency healthcare to inmates.
- Conduct health assessments, triage new patients, and make referrals to providers including detoxification, dental, and mental health professionals.
- Perform detox rounds per protocol.
- Work night shift: 4 shifts of 12 hours each (18:00 - 6:30).
- Contract length: 13 weeks minimum (new contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks).
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week; facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment.
- Weekend work required every other weekend.
- Block scheduling accommodations available.
- No local candidates within 100-mile radius accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico (pending licenses accepted).
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 1 year of wound care experience within the last year.
- Correctional nursing experience.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) certification required; facility provides 4-hour de-escalation course during first week if not already certified. Failure to pass may result in contract cancellation.
Additional Information
- COVID-19 vaccine is optional; facility reports vaccination status. Upload vaccine series or declination.
- Must be able to pass facility background check and orientation requirements.
- No public transportation nearby; valid non-local driver’s license required.
- Orientation includes Cerner training attestation; experienced candidates may test out.
- After background clearance, PREA training must be completed prior to start.
- Badge photo and check-in coordinated during first week onsite.
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative work at this facility.
- Overtime applies after 48 hours worked per week starting 10/30/2025.
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: absences longer than 7 days require approval.
