Job Description

• Float between all adult ICUs and step-down units (excluding post-cardiac surgery, balloon pump, Impella, transplant, or EVD patients).
• Critical care float role requiring comfort working across multiple adult ICU settings.
• Orientation includes two pass/fail exams: medication exam and telemetry exam (one attempt allowed each; failure results in immediate contract cancellation).
• Study materials provided prior to exams.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 3 years of Critical Care Float experience, including experience within the last year.
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience required.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Acknowledgement and acceptance of pass/fail testing during orientation.

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Every other weekend and holiday rotation.
• All call-outs must be made up at the end of the assignment.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued ID.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national criminal search, and education verification.
• Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance required within 30 days prior to start.
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if electronic verification unavailable).
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions.
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or facility-specific declination)
  • Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
• TB testing: Two PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if positive.
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references within three years of start.
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.
