Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Requires working 50% weekends and holidays on contract
• Rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather required
• Active role involving ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
• Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses in a 24/7 healthcare facility

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA or ARC Provider card)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred but not required
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required for ER RNs starting 11/5/2024
• NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work full contractual term at assigned location
• Ability to work substantial portion of assigned shifts, including call and weekends
• Ability to work at least 50% of holidays during contract
• Must meet physical demands of the role without accommodation

Background & Screening Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 60 days of start, including alias search, counties lived/worked/school, national and federal criminal, sex offender, social security trace, and international checks if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions screening required within 60 days of start
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Missouri Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days before starting (cannot start with both pending)
• Drug screening: Negative 7-panel drug test within 60 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, initiated within 48 hours of signing
• Fit mask test valid within 1 year (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205) required
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption required
• Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray and INH treatment documentation required if positive TB history
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines required; medical exemptions require facility approval
• Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer required; declinations no longer accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023
• Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; medical exemptions require facility approval
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)

Documentation & Compliance

• Photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
• Employment application/resume with minimum 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days, including education details
• Two professional references from the last 2 years required
• Completion of facility-specific forms including confidentiality agreement, new hire packet, TB survey, and employment eligibility certification within 60 days of start

Additional Notes

• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required
• Must be able to take call and work assigned shifts fully
• CPI certification required only for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs (not applicable here)
• Medication and competency exams as applicable to specialty may be required
