Pediatric BMT Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (4x12 hour shifts, 48 hours/week)
Unit: Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)
Job Description
- Care for patients in a 24-bed Hematology/Oncology unit, 10 BMT beds, and 17 overflow beds (includes history of oncology and med-surg patients).
- May float to General Pediatrics floor, PICU, NICU, and sister campus as needed.
- Weekend block schedule: Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon (if 4x12s) or Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon (if 3x12s option chosen).
- BMT experience required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Minimum of 1 year of Bone Marrow Transplant experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) must be carried during shifts.
- Social Security card required.
- E-Verify proof or attestation required.
- Background check within 30 days of start (7-year criminal check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
- Copy of nursing degree from an accredited college.
- Proof of current professional RN license.
- Proof of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training or signed attestation.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required to be updated annually).
- N95 mask fit test within 12 months of start (3M N95, specific models required).
- Tdap vaccine required (no declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot within 3 months of start; PPD not accepted). Chest X-ray required if TB positive.
- Immunity documentation for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal).
- Hepatitis B immunity proof or declination.
- 10-panel drug test including nicotine/cotinine within 60 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for current season (no exemptions).
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Completed employment application/resume.
- Annual skills checklist for applicable unit.
Additional Notes
- The unit and traveler may be floated to other hospital areas as needed, primarily between Hem/Onc and BMT units located one floor apart.
- Facility-specific confidentiality and security agreement must be signed prior to start.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required.
- Facility sends specific onboarding documents directly to the traveler before start date.
