Neuro ICU Registered Nurse

Job Overview

• Travel/contract role in Charlotte, North Carolina
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Local candidates accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
• Neuro ICU experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing before start
• Must be comfortable with a 2:1 patient ratio, with possible flex to 3:1

Key Clinical Experience

• Ventilator management
• IV starts
• Neuro ICU care
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Continuous IV sedation
• CVA/acute stroke management
• External ventricular drains
• ICP monitoring
• Post-neurosurgery care
• Care of ventilated patients
• Isolation precautions and PPE use
• Lumbar drain experience

Preferred Experience

• Arterial line management

Schedule and Unit Expectations

• Float required
• Every other weekend required
• No call requirement
• Unit orientation: 24 hours
• Scheduling is based on unit needs

Patient Population

• Stroke patients, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
• SAH, SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies
• Aneurysm coiling/clipping
• Seizures, depth electrodes, myasthenia gravis

Unit Details

• Comprehensive stroke center
• Equipment includes EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun

Additional Notes

• RTO after booking is not allowed
• Navy blue and white scrubs required
