Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) - PICU Focus

Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM), weekdays with some weekends and float
• Work Settings: PICU and ER experience highly desired; traveler may work with only 2 therapists on nights and must be ready to float between PICU and ER
• Patient Population: Adults and Pediatrics
• Types of Cases: Critical Care, General Care
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
• Orientation: Every other Tuesday
• Local Radius Rule: 75-100 miles considered for locals
• Pending State License: Accepted
• Guaranteed Hours: 72-80 hours per pay period

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in West Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Experience working with Adult patients
• Experience working with Pediatric patients

Additional Requirements

• References: One reference required from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within the last year
• Skills Checklist: Annual skills checklist for specialty required
• Orientation: Two-day orientation (Thursday and Friday) including Cerner Infusion Management training
• Documentation: Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed, signed, and returned prior to start (e.g., dress code, blood administration policy, time and attendance, medical release, vaccination exemption forms)
• On-Call: Not required

• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must submit requests for time off at least two weeks prior and get manager approval
• Scrubs and parking provided free for travelers
• Charting system: Cerner
• Facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 838 staffed beds

This position is ideal for Respiratory Therapists with critical care experience, especially those comfortable working nights in high-acuity PICU and ER settings, who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts.
