Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Auburn, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced ER Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. The role involves providing critical care in the Emergency Room with a flexible schedule and no blocked scheduling.
Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Open to working up to 48 hours per week with overtime after 52 hours
- 36 guaranteed hours per week (unless signing a 48-hour contract)
- Every other weekend required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required (issued by American Heart Association):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification
- Ability to interpret and manage heart rhythm changes (dysrhythmias)
- Ability to care for critically ill patients with multi-organ issues
- Ability to administer blood products
- Ability to manage central lines
- Ability to start and maintain IVs, administer IV sedation and vasopressors
- Ability to care for stroke (CVA) patients
- Ability to care for ventilated patients
- Ability to manage BiPAP/CPAP
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Ability to perform triage
Required Licensure & Certifications
- Active New York state nursing license or compact license
- If no NY license, must have applied and provide application date
Additional Requirements
- No disciplinary issues on nursing license
- Interview conducted via phone or virtual
- All requested time off must be submitted with application; no time off approved after offer
- Traveler must arrange coverage for any additional shifts if needed
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by licensed provider
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
Competency & Testing
- Pass a medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80%) on cardiac rhythm interpretation on first day of orientation (includes arrhythmias, heart blocks, paced rhythms)
- Remediation provided if initial assessment is not passed
