Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (LTC) - New York, Bronx

Position Overview

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: Approximately 189 weeks (1326 days ≈ 189 weeks)
  • Location: Bronx, New York

Job Description

  • Provide skilled nursing care to patients requiring professional nursing services.
  • Assess, plan, and implement client care following Plan of Care or Doctor’s orders, including but not limited to:
    • Dressing changes
    • Urinary catheter insertion and irrigation
    • Oxygen administration (mask or cannula)
    • Tracheostomy care and endotracheal suctioning
    • Gastrostomy tube feedings and medication flushes
    • SQ or IM injections, insulin administration
    • Specimen collection
    • Nephrostomy tube flushes
    • Colostomy care and irrigation
    • CPR and emergency procedures
  • Provide staff training and in-services.
  • May serve as staff development nurse or perform episodic nurse duties as needed.
  • May perform LPN duties when necessary.
  • Supervise all LPNs clinically.
  • Provide short-term/short-time nursing services such as diabetes care, wound care (complex wounds, wound VAC, pressure ulcers), tube feedings, and trach care.
  • Complete nursing tasks efficiently and timely, including backup nursing coverage and weekly health needs contact.
  • Maintain and ensure accessibility of Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Maintain certifications in CPR and Infection Control for Health Care Workers.
  • Provide nursing triage for non-medically enhanced residents during off hours, including symptom screening and directing appropriate action based on triage protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for New York.
  • Certification in CPR.
  • Certification in Infection Control for Health Care Workers.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required for RNs.
  • Competency Exam required for all candidates.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start.
  • Annual TB Questionnaire completion.
  • Vaccination documentation or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Drug testing (9 panel) within 1 year of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination for 2025-26.
  • COVID-19 vaccine booster preferred but not required.
  • New York State Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results required.
  • Background checks including SS Trace, County searches, Nationwide, and Sex Offender registry within 1 year for the last 7 years of locations lived/worked/schooled.
  • Two professional references required.
  • Medicaid enrollment documentation may be required depending on facility.
