Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVPICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Schedule: Weekend only (Friday through Sunday)


Job Description

  • Weekend-only option (Fri-Sun schedule).
  • Floating required to multiple units including NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and MS as needed.
  • Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations.
  • 2 supervisory references required (1 must be a supervisor/manager).
  • Prefer close to 2 years of nursing experience.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

  • Ohio State or Compact RN license required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred in Registered Nursing specialty.

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP certification required for NICU RNs.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required as applicable.
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - required as applicable.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
  • Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start (must be updated for each new contract).
  • Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry checks within 30 days of start.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
  • References: 2 professional references required (charge RN acceptable for one; peer references not accepted).
  • Resume or employment application required.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam (within 1 year of start) or signed Infection Control Policy.
  • N95 Fit Testing required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually.
  • TDAP vaccine required within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11).
  • TB testing options: 2 PPDs or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
  • Annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.
  • Immunizations required or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declination accepted if negative/equivocal titer)
    • Varicella

  • Floating assignments may include NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and medical-surgical units.
  • Must comply with facility-specific policies and documentation requirements.
  • Candidate's legal name must match all licenses and certifications exactly.
  • Temporary IDs or driver's licenses are not acceptable for verification.
  • Fingerprinting results can pend at start if facility completes onsite fingerprinting.
  • Candidates with positive TB results must complete additional documentation.
  • Fit testing documentation must be valid annually regardless of facial hair status.
