Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Night shift position on Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit
• Unit includes 16 LDRP rooms, C-section Suite, PACU on L&D unit, and a 4-bed Special Care Nursery
• Requires experience in both Labor & Delivery and mother/baby care
• Closed specialty unit with no floating to other units outside Family Center
• Growing support staff including preadmit nurse, discharge planner/case worker, maternity navigator, unit educator, and lactation consultant
• Focus on continuous improvement and best practices in maternal and infant care, including programs for infant withdrawal, prenatal screening tools, safe sleep initiatives, mental health expansion, Narcan education, and sepsis care in obstetrics

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in mother/baby nursing
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Official transcript or copy of transcript (diplomas not accepted)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Electronic Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification
• Annual physical exam attestation
• Fit testing for N95 masks within 1 year of start
• Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Respiratory safety clearance updated annually
• Minimum of 2 clinical references dated within a year of start
• Completed employment application/resume and skills checklist
