Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse
Location: Boone, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Dedicated float RN position covering ICU, Intermediate/Stepdown, and MedSurg units based on patient volume.
- Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12), weekdays with up to 2 weekends per month.
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays during the contract.
- Flexibility in floating between units is essential.
- Blocked schedule requests may be considered if submitted at application.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6 depending on acuity and unit.
- Must wear all white or all navy scrubs.
- Candidates residing within 40 miles of the facility are not eligible.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and Intermediate Care settings
- Minimum 2 years of total travel nursing experience
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Recent proficiency with Epic electronic medical record system
