Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Requires 2 years of nursing experience (higher value confirmed).
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Strong neurological nursing skills required.
• Must be proficient with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Schedule includes every other weekend.
• Floating responsibilities to ICU, TCU/PCU, and all hospital care areas, including ED for admitted ICU and TCU/PCU patients.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri or Compact License.
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
• Physical exam indicating good health within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 5 years (if applicable).
• Drug screening within 12 months of start.
• Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (renewed annually).
• COVID vaccination preferred.
• OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start (fit testing done onsite during orientation).
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong neuro skills.
• Ability to float across multiple units including ICU, TCU/PCU, and ED.
• Competency in medication administration and pharmacology.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency required for ICU/Tele/Step Down units.
• Ability to work within scope of practice in various hospital care areas.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Every other weekend shifts.
• Floating to multiple units including ICU, TCU/PCU, and ED.
• Use of EPIC for charting.
• Onsite parking available at no cost.

Additional Requirements

• Background check within 12 months including SSN trace, 7-year county residency/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documents prior to or during orientation.
• Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge.
• Completion of post-start orientation checklists.
• Fit testing for respirators onsite during first week of orientation.
• Must comply with all facility confidentiality, security, and ethical conduct agreements.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
• Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
• Strong neurological nursing skills.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.

• Prior travel experience is not required.
• Candidates must be willing to comply with fit testing requirements, including being clean-shaven if required for respirator fit.
• Modules and training may vary depending on unit assignment.
• Some certifications and health documents are subject to annual renewal.
