Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry
Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a cardiac telemetry unit with adult to geriatric patient population. This role requires managing patients on cardiac drips and diuretics, arrhythmia management, and care for various cardiac and surgical conditions in an intermediate care setting.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in cardiac telemetry.
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
- Experience with cardiac telemetry drips including:
- Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
- Diuretics: Bumex, Lasix
- Anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
- Insulin drips
Patient Population & Clinical Focus
- Adults to geriatrics
- Overflow Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
- Arrhythmia management including cardioversion, stable atrial fibrillation, SVT, bradycardia
- Cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT
- Surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
- Occasional vascular, orthopedic, or stroke patient overflow
- Post cardiac catheterization care including TR bands
- Basic arrhythmia knowledge required
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Work Environment & Schedule
- Patient ratio approximately 1:5-6
- Unit size: 32 beds
- Electronic Medical Record system preferred: Epic
- Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR communication
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days per contract
- Weekend shifts: Typically every other weekend; permanent staff scheduled first, travelers fill gaps
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call: Rare, with 2-hour response time; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
- Holiday work: Required to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance with credentialing and onboarding required to start on time
- Orientation hours vary by contract length
- Background checks, education verification, and licensure must be current and complete prior to start
Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Georgia
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Prior experience with cardiac drips including: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
- Prior experience with diuretics including Bumex
- Prior experience with anticoagulants including Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
- Prior experience with insulin drips
Additional Requirements
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (up to 3 attempts allowed)
- Color blindness testing required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- Drug screening within 60 days of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations per facility policy (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine or declination, TDAP recommended)
- Skills checklist and work history verification required

- Travelers must confirm prior travel and cardiac telemetry experience with drips to avoid delays.
- Locals are accepted at the same rate.
- Call is rare but may be required.
- Floating within the facility is expected as needed.
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry RNs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable managing complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced intermediate care setting.
