Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Start Date: End of April
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 0650-1920
- Float required between mother/baby and scrub roles
- Call required: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Every other weekend required
- Scrub experience required; must be able to scrub as backup as needed
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
- STABLE certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required (will consider 2 years if experience is solid)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience is NOT required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – required; AWHONN acceptable as placeholder if candidate registers for C-EFM course
- STABLE certification required with submission
- ACLS preferred but not mandatory
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to complete facility-specific modules prior to start
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/state screenings required
- Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Competency exams required including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG exams (with specific passing criteria)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
Work Environment & Responsibilities
- Must be able to float between mother/baby care and scrub roles
- Required to scrub as backup when needed
- Call shifts and weekend work required as specified
