Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - House Supervisor (Travel/Contract)

Location: Hood River, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Facility Type: Critical Access / Level III Trauma Center
Total Staffed Beds: 25
Charting System: Epic
Scrub Color: Any color allowed; scrubs provided for OR, Critical Care, ED, and Maternal Child units
Parking: No fee


Job Description

  • Position floats between units as needed (ED, ICU, and others based on skill set)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Weekends: Required (days and/or nights, variable with weekdays)
  • Block schedules: Not required
  • Patient ratios: No specific ratios required
  • Must have a vehicle for assignment
  • Floating to other Providence facilities in the region may be required
  • Floating to Seaside facility includes additional incentives and accommodations

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience in Emergency Department (ED) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Highly desired but not mandatory
  • Other certifications may be beneficial but not required (e.g., NRP, CHEMO, EFM)

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Oregon
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete Providence-specific mandatory training modules via WorkRamp LMS prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator fit testing required for travel starts (updated annually)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment

Work Environment

  • Teaching hospital environment
  • Floating between multiple units and facilities within the Providence Health and Services system in Oregon
  • Use of Epic electronic health record system
  • Scrubs provided for specific units

Notes

  • Floating policy acknowledgment required
  • Must be flexible to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • No on-call requirement, but weekend shifts are mandatory
  • No specific patient ratios mandated
