Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech - Surgical Services
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
- Call Requirement: 90-120 hours of call over a 6-week schedule
- First Time Travelers: Accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma Experience
- Key Responsibilities:
- Receive pump lines from perfusion and prepare them for cannulation
- Support surgical cases including:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Atherectomy
- Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Cardiomyoplasty
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
- Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
- Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
- Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Pericardial Window
- Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- Heart & Lung Transplant
- Valve Replacement
- Aortic Dissection
Experience & Certifications
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years in Surgical Services with Level 1 Trauma Center experience, including vascular and thoracic surgery cases
- Required Certifications:
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- Additional Certifications Recommended/Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Other certifications as applicable per unit requirements
Requirements & Compliance
- Licensure: Valid state license with online verification within 30 days of start
- Background Checks:
- Comprehensive background check within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and titers including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred)
- TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Unit competency exam
- Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent)
Additional Information
- Interview Availability: Candidates should provide 2-3 days of interview availability
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted if Level 1 Trauma experience is met; no explicit prior travel experience required
- Facility Policy:
- Perioperative/OR RNs, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from restrictions on Indiana RN contracts starting after 9/9/2024
- Orientation: Completion of mandatory facility-specific orientation modules and documentation required prior to start
References & History
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment within 2 years
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps of 30+ days
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity surgical environment with a variety of complex cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. Candidates must be prepared for a demanding call schedule and meet rigorous certification and compliance standards.
