Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm-7am)
• Specialty Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience (permanent experience prior to travel)
• Licensing: Must have permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand
• Certifications Required:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
• References: One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty applying for is required (Charge RN references accepted)
• Testing: ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication test must be passed during orientation

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background checks including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
  • HHS/OIG (monthly)
  • Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
• Education verification
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment
• Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing (EKG/medication) required
• Pass/fail ECG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; candidates can start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment

• No explicit prior travel experience required

Summary

This is a night shift travel Registered Nurse position in Med/Surg Telemetry requiring a minimum of 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel. Candidates must hold an Ohio or compact state nursing license and have current BLS and ACLS certifications. Extensive background checks, health screenings, immunizations, and facility-specific training are mandatory. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks with 12-hour shifts.
