Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Plattsburgh, New York
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER RN)
Contract Length: 21 weeks
Assignment Details
- Start Date: Must start by January 12
- Duration: 16-32 weeks (contract length specified as 21 weeks)
- Schedule: Minimum every other weekend or adjusted to unit needs
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Day/Eve)
- No on-call required
- No block schedules allowed
- Orientation: Bi-weekly on Mondays
- Public transportation is not accessible; reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April
Requirements
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year specialty experience in ER
- Current New York RN license or proof of application (NY licensing takes 6-8 weeks)
- Certifications (must be AHA and current):
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - must be active or proof of class prior to start
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - required prior to start
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
Compliance & Documentation
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification as required
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- Work history verification for the past 2 years
- Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years
- Drug testing within 12 months (required for NY facilities)
- Physical exam within 12 months (required for NY facilities)
- N95 Fit Test prior to start and updated annually (acceptable masks include 3M Aura 1870+, 3M Aura 9205+, ENVO, Honeywell International, Prestige Ameritec Small/Regular)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap within 10 years or titer
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive TB
- Annual TB questionnaire if positive TB
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or exemption documentation (seasonal requirement)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination (required for NY facilities)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain light background, no logos/hats/sunglasses/filters) due 2 weeks prior to start
- Review of dress code and telephone usage policies prior to start
- Completion of auto registration form within 48 hours of signed contract
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work (if required) including mask-wearing and social distancing
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent form (for Vermont placements)
- New York Staff Exclusion List and Central Registry checks (for NY placements)
- Completion of emergency contact form, workday information attestation, and other facility-specific documents as required
Additional Notes
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete and accurate work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type is required for submission
- Reliable transportation is essential due to lack of public transit
- Seasonal tire requirements for vehicle November-April
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with recent Epic experience and required certifications, who are comfortable with travel assignments and meeting specific holiday and scheduling requirements.
