Registered Nurse (L&D) - Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Clarksdale, Mississippi
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

Join a dynamic, family-centered Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit providing comprehensive care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods. This role suits adaptable, skilled nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.


Shift Details

  • 3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts (based on traveler preference)
  • Block shift accommodations available

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience required
  • At least 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience acceptable

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for laboring, delivering, and postpartum mothers and newborns in a combined LDRP setting
  • Manage continuous fetal monitoring and assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • Provide immediate newborn care, breastfeeding support, and patient education
  • Handle antepartum admissions, post-delivery recovery, and newborn nursery assessments
  • Collaborate with OB providers, anesthesia, lactation consultants, and support staff
  • Complete accurate documentation, discharge teaching, and patient follow-up education

Traveler Support & Opportunities

  • Clarifications on patient ratios, unit expectations, and resources provided upfront
  • Common contract extensions based on unit needs and nurse performance
  • Potential for permanent role conversion after assignment completion
  • Ongoing training available in advanced fetal monitoring, high-risk antepartum care, LDRP procedures, and newborn resuscitation

Required Certifications & Skills

  • Familiarity with obstetric and neonatal certifications preferred (NRP, BLS, EFM interpretation) — training provided as needed
  • Strong multitasking, critical thinking, and patient education skills
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and teamwork essential

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal check, SS Trace, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification as requested
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC (as applicable)
  • State license verification and NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Fit mask certification (annual renewal)
  • Negative TB or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within a year of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination documentation (as requested)
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years for travel positions
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Mississippi-specific criminal history fingerprint results required prior to start
