Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Position Overview
- Role: Variable shifts Registered Nurse for South Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Shifts: Day/evening with possible night and/or on-call shifts
- Start times may vary (e.g., 0530, 0900, 1100, 1300, 1500, 1900)
- Shift schedule remains consistent weekly, though flexibility is required
- Unit Description: 38-bay South PACU providing 24/7 perianesthesia care to adult and some pediatric patients
- Patient Types: Ambulatory, acute care, and critical care patients from home, ED, and inpatient settings
- Responsibilities: Prepare patients for surgery/procedures, recover patients from anesthesia, transition patients to inpatient or discharge home
Required Experience & Certifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with experience in Adult or Pediatric Critical Care through ICU, high acuity ED, or PACU
- Minimum Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; based on typical critical care roles, expect at least 2 years (default to higher if conflicting info arises)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider only, traditional certification required

Contract Length

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

- Background check within 6 months prior to start (includes education and work history verification, international searches if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification required (BSN preferred for RNs)
- National Sex Offender Search within 30 days prior to start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start
- Physical exam: Required to meet Aya standard (within 1 year of start)
- Fit mask test: Required within 1 year prior to start; onsite fit testing possible if agency cannot provide
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Immune titer, 2 vaccines, or signed declination
- Hepatitis B: Full vaccine series, immune titer, or signed declination
- Varicella: Immune titer, 2 vaccines, or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline 12/01/2025)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Must review and sign professional appearance policy and job description prior to start
- Completion of required Compass training modules prior to start (includes privacy, integrity, respect, and other role-specific modules)
- Medication override test provided at orientation (not required before start)
- Must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date (notify recruiter of any planned unavailability)
- References: Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required (charge RN references only if direct supervisor)
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position
