Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Wound Care
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Wound Care for a travel contract position. The role focuses on hospital and pediatric wound and ostomy care, including management and treatment of complex wounds.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 5 years of Wound Care experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- WCC (Wound Care Certification) or WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification)
- Expertise in colostomy care and management, including:
- Double barrel stoma
- End stoma
- Loop with rod stoma
- Ileostomy care and management
- Mucous fistula
- Ostomy equipment selection
- Continence skin care management
- Pressure ulcer identification and management
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional skills in ileal lavage & irrigation
- Experience with continence therapeutic devices (external catheters)
- Knowledge of ileal pouches (Kock pouch, J pouch)
- Management of burns (all degrees), hypoalbuminemia, nutritional status
- Electrical stimulation wound treatments
- Additional certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), WCC, Wound & Ostomy Care (continence certification not required)
Work Details
- Shift: 8-hour days, 08:00 - 17:00
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Call: None
- Float: None
- Weekend: None
- Scheduling: Per unit needs
- Orientation: Variable depending on wound ostomy and EPIC experience
- Systems: EPIC, SBAR
- Patient Diagnoses: Wound vacs, ostomy care, complex wound management and treatment
- Special Procedures: Wound vacs, conservative debridement, complex wound management
Compliance & Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and state-specific registry searches required within 90 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit testing required (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year of start
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination), Flu vaccine or approved exemption
- TB testing and chest x-ray as applicable
- Required facility-specific documents and orientation modules must be completed prior to start
- Medication safety training and competency exams as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required with remediation process if failed
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (for travel, allied, and per diem acute care)
Important Notes
- No call-offs or additional time off (RTO) allowed after booking; violations may result in contract cancellation
- Scrubs not provided
- Interview with manager required before offer
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Candidate must complete all required orientation and compliance modules before starting
