Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PACU)

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position primarily in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), with some floating to Preoperative (Preop) areas
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends or on-call
  • Shift start times vary between 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM
  • Ambulatory experience highly preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • Specialty Experience: Registered Nurse (PACU) – minimum 1 year experience recommended (ambulatory experience highly preferred)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
  • Education verification with preference for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal required)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually
  • Completion of facility-specific documents including job description review, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start

Additional Requirements

  • Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days documented in employment application
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)
  • Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry if applicable)

Work Environment

  • Ambulatory surgery center setting
  • No weekend or on-call shifts
  • Floating between preop and PACU areas
