Role Overview

• Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist
• Large team serving a complex patient population, with specialization in CVA, brain injury, spinal cord injury (SCI), cancer rehab, and complex orthopedics

Required Qualifications

• Valid Occupational Therapist license in California
• Occupational Therapist with 2 years of experience
• Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience working with Neuro patients
• Experience in an Acute Care setting

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP, instructor or advanced provider course only), Critical Care RN (CCRN), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)

Required Onboarding Before Start

• OT-specific competencies: CVA Population, Intrathecal Baclofen Program, Spinal Cord Injury, TBI Population, THR/TKR Amputee Multi Frac, and Vestibular
• Unit skills checklist (renewed annually)
• Facility documents: Job description, standards of business conduct, general regulatory orientation, HIPAA agreement, confidentiality agreements, badge form, orientation booklet with post-test, and code of conduct, vendor training, and overpayment refund policy documents
• Background and screening: 7-year background check within 6 months of start; federal exclusion checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and OFAC) with monthly updates; Level 3 federal exclusion screening within 2 weeks of start; and sex offender search within 90 days of start
• Education verification: Highest level of education
• Employment history: 7 years of work history on the application, with verification of up to 7 years of employment. Gaps over 30 days must be explained, and gaps over one year require approval.

• Health documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (no marijuana/cannabinoids for California setups)
  • TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually, plus a TB test (QuantiFERON or TSPOT within 90 days, or 2 PPDs) or a chest X-ray if positive
  • Immunity documentation or vaccination for measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B, plus Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (flu season 11/1 to 4/30)
  • In-person color blind exam (online exams not accepted)
  • Respiratory safety fit test within 1 year, renewed annually (3M 1870+, 1860 Small, 1804 Regular, or 1804 Small masks)
  • Respiratory safety clearance, renewed annually
