Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics RRT

Location: New York, NY Contract Length: 13 weeks Employment Type: Travel/Contract Shift: Day, 3x11.5 hours (7:30 AM to 8:00 PM), including a 60-minute unpaid lunch break Locals: Accepted, and locals are preferred

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in applied science and respiratory therapy
• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Job Duties

• Greet patients, visitors, and staff courteously, introduce yourself, and explain procedures clearly
• Administer and monitor respiratory therapy care for assigned patients, visiting them daily
• Set up and operate oxygen and inhalation equipment, and position patients for treatment
• Confer with staff on procedures, instruct on technique, and notify physicians or nurses of adverse or unusual patient reactions
• Record respiratory care data in the patient chart
• Check equipment regularly, make minor adjustments, and replace malfunctioning equipment
• Assist with on-the-job training and perform other duties as assigned

Pre-Start Requirements

• Background checks: Criminal background check within 60 days before start, plus sanctions, sex offender, and Social Security/death master searches
• Credential verification: State license verification and Nursys verification within 60 days before start. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications require primary source verification through the AHA
• Work history: 7-year employment application and work history verification
• Drug screen: Negative 9-panel drug screen with chain of custody, within 60 days before start
• Physical exam: Within 12 months of start, including vital signs, review of systems, medical history, and a clearance statement
• TB screening: Negative TB test (QuantiFERON or T-SPOT within 60 days of start) or chest X-ray if there is positive history, plus a TB questionnaire completed annually
• Immunizations and titers: Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B documentation, plus hepatitis C titer within 6 months
• Flu vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 1 to May 4). Documentation must list the vaccine brand and other details, or a valid medical or religious exemption is needed
• Respirator fit test: Passing N95 fit test completed before start (PAPRs not accepted)
• Eye/color vision screening: Snellen vision screen within 12 months, plus color blind testing
• Training: Online facility training modules before start, annual required training modules within 45 days of start, and an orientation safety manual acknowledgment
