Registered Nurse - MedSurg (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chesterfield, Missouri
Unit: Surgery
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

• Nursing Degree or higher
• Missouri RN License
• Minimum 1 year RN experience
• BLS certification (AHA only; Instructor, Provider, and RQI acceptable)

Preferred/Additional Certifications (depending on unit)

• ACLS (required for ICU, SICU, MICU, Endoscopy/GI, CCU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, PACU, Cath Lab, ER; preferred for PCU, MS, Tele, LDRP, OR)
• PALS (required for PICU, Pediatrics, ER)
• TNCC (required for ER and MSTICU; MSTICU only at this facility)
• EFM (AWHONN Intermediate for Labor & Delivery RNs)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for PACU, Neuro ICU, Neuro Intermediate Units, MS, Tele, ICU, PCU; initial annual renewal, then every 2 years)
• CPI (required for Psychiatric RNs)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Current driver’s license or government photo ID
• 7-year background check including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, national sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification of highest level (except FNS & EVS)
• State-specific searches (Missouri MO EDL and MO FCSR)
• High school diploma/GED verification if applicable
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
• References:

  • Travel RN: 2 supervisor-level references (at least one within 1 year)
  • RNFA: 3 supervisor references within 1 year
  • Non-clinical: 1 reference within 1 year
• Employment application with detailed 7-10 years work history and gap explanations
• Skills checklist updated within 1 year, renewed annually
• Competency exams as applicable (medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG, color blindness)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam signed by a physician or advanced practice provider within 1 year, renewed annually
• Fit mask (3M N95 or PAPR) within 1 year, renewed annually (PAPR training available onsite)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
• Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot) within 12 months; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire if prior positive TB
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Hepatitis B (declination, proof of series, or positive titer)
  • Varicella
• Drug testing (9 panel including marijuana) within 30 days of start, renewed annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination required by November 4th; declinations accepted with approval
• COVID-19 vaccine not required as of 02/20/2025
• Additional vaccinations or declinations as required by specific departments (e.g., meningococcal for microbiology)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Clear headshot with white background for badge within 48 hours of signing
• Confidentiality statement signed prior to start
• Flu vaccine declination form if applicable
• For First Assist (RNFA) placements:

  • RNFA application, background form, and privilege form must be completed within 24 hours of signing
  • Detailed documentation of education, employment, malpractice insurance, and professional references required

This position offers a night shift travel opportunity in a surgical unit with a 13-week contract in Missouri. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, health, and compliance requirements prior to start.
