Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (Days)
Location: Lancaster, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Day Shift, 12-hour shifts (7 AM - 7 PM), 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a 25-bed critical access hospital providing medical, surgical, and intensive care services.
- Facility offers outpatient services including cardiac and physical rehabilitation, oncology, 24-hour emergency care, laboratory, and radiology.
- Located in a rural community known for outdoor recreation such as snowmobiling, hiking, and cross-country skiing.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), or Stepdown
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of work experience in PCU, IMCU, or Stepdown
- Certifications:
- Active American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Active American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Additional Requirements:
- PCU/Stepdown checklist current within the past year
- One supervisory signed reference from the past year of employment
- License verification and all licenses/certifications must be current at time of submission
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Meditech EMR system
- Previous travel experience is highly preferred (not explicitly required)
Other Information
- Return to Office (RTO) limit: 5 days
- No non-billable orientation hours
- Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply
This position is ideal for experienced PCU RNs seeking a temporary assignment in a community hospital setting with a focus on progressive care.

Pros
Very easy work. Basic ortho cases, general, podietry, and urology. Also will do endo and will phase 1 PACU your own patient. Two ORs and endo room.
Cons
Contract signed was for 4 10s and they told me when I got there it was 5 8s. Cancelled a lot of contracts while I was there. Didn’t explain I would be responsible to do phase 1 recovery myself on my patient and when on call you will not have a second nurse and anesthesia will not stay with you. If the patient is being discharged and the floor doesn’t have a nurse they will also make you do phase 2 and discharge that patient. Pre op will not do blocks so you will also be responsible for doing that before going back to OR.
