Role Summary

Provides evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (2 years of experience)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP Advanced
  • High school diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, or associate's degree or technical degree, or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience
  • Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Life Support accepted by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support accepted by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis
  • Implements and monitors patient care plan and equipment
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition
  • Performs advanced respiratory care modalities
  • Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome
  • Educates patients and families about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs
  • Responds to emergency resuscitation team code

Work Conditions

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment
  • Uses Standard Precautions and personal protective equipment as required
