Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical

Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Job Description

• Telemetry background required (ability to read telemetry)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed
• Nail policy: No artificial or acrylic nails; natural nails must be short (< 1/4 inch)

Required Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license for Wisconsin (or compact license valid in Wisconsin)
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• NIH certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
• Completion of specialty competency exams including:

  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score)
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out
• Completion of required onboarding and education attestations prior to start
• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine (optional, but mask required if declined during flu season)
  • TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit test for appropriate respirators (updated annually)
• Drug screening: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Verification of education and employment history relevant to nursing practice
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days prior to start
• Annual updates required for many certifications, screenings, and competencies

Additional Requirements

• Must provide a professional headshot with a white or blue background (no alterations or filters)
• Resume/profile submission required
• At least two professional references required prior to first assignment
• Driver’s license or state ID must be current and valid, matching address requirements for compact licensing
• Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• Must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and training requirements

Summary

This is a 13-week long-term assignment for an experienced Medical/Surgical RN with telemetry skills and prior travel nursing experience. The role requires strong clinical competency, EPIC proficiency, and flexibility to float within a 40-mile radius. Comprehensive immunization, certification, and background checks are mandatory for onboarding and continued assignment.
