Travel Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical)

Job Description

• Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
• Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas.
• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
• Completion of specialty competency exams and assessments prior to assignment and updated every 3 years, including:

  • Specialty exam in Medical/Surgical nursing.
  • Core competencies covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • EKG exam with a passing score of at least 80%.
  • Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
• Completion of onboarding requirements and education attestations prior to start.
• Valid Driver’s License or State ID matching home state address.
• Required immunizations and health screenings, including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years.
  • Tuberculosis screening with documented negative results and annual questionnaire.
• Fit test for respiratory protection completed annually.
• 12-panel drug screen completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
• Verification of education relevant to nursing practice within 90 days prior to start.
• Employment and professional reference verifications completed prior to assignment.
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start and rerun if break in service > 90 days.
