Job Description

• Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
• Assess patient needs based on history, observation, physical examination, and data analysis.
• Provide nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician’s medical plans.
• Conduct hourly rounds using the 4 P’s (Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Placement of items).
• Foster a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment for patients, families, and visitors.
• Use appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.
• Care for central lines, chest tubes, Foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and patients at high risk for falls using standard procedures.
• Precept and mentor novice employees to contribute to department performance.
• Participate in hospital-system initiatives promoting Evidence Based Practices.
• Engage in continued professional growth through goal setting and educational opportunities.
• Understand and ensure proper storage and safety of medications, including large volume IVs and pre-packaged kits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications and Licenses

• BLS (AHA only) – Required before onboarding
• Nursing License (Nursys verification) – Must be verified within 30 days of start
• Primary Source License/Certificate Verification – State-specific registry verification required
• Driver’s License/State ID – Valid and up to date copy required
• Social Security Card – Copy required

Required Health and Immunizations

• MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
• Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 vaccinations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
• Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
• 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): 1st within 1 year, 2nd within 30 days of start; negative Q-Gold or Tspot within 90 days prior to start also accepted
• Fit Test: Optional, required for travelers with specific mask make/model within 1 year of start
• Influenza Vaccine: Optional, required September-April with possible medical/religious exemptions
• Annual Negative PPD, Annual TB Questionnaire, Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray: Optional based on individual health status

Professional Requirements

• Criminal Background Check: Must include county, statewide, national search, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS Trace, and education verification; done within 60 days of start covering last 7 years; updated annually
• Employment Verification: 5 years required
• Drug Screen: 10 panel drug screening completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted)
• Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually
• Resume/Profile Submission: Required for submission
