Surgical Technologist – Operating Room

Job Overview

• Travel assignment in Springfield, Missouri
• 13-week contract
• Day shift, 3x12 schedule: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend coverage required Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• One opening

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist (1 year of experience)
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• CST

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Call may be required on scheduled days, averaging 5 or fewer hours per 8 weeks
• Float as required by the facility
• May need to work varying schedules, shifts, and days based on patient needs
• On-call shifts are required

Role Summary

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the surgeon and circulating RN
• Set up surgical cases across multiple specialties
• Maintain a sterile field and perform instrument, sponge, and sharp counts
• Assist OR staff with patient safety and direct patient care
• Serve as a resource for newly hired Surgical Technicians and visiting students

Work Environment

• Main OR
• Fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations
• Requires standing and walking most of the shift
• May involve lifting or pushing patients, equipment, and instrument sets
• Must work with contaminated instruments and equipment and follow Universal Precautions

Additional Notes

• Black scrubs required
• Unprofessional attire and jeans are not allowed
• EPIC is used in the unit
