Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg Telemetry
Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced telemetry unit. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, focusing on optimal outcomes throughout the episode of care. The RN will coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and may float to ICU, medical-surgical units, or other telemetry-appropriate assignments as needed.
Unit Description
- Patient population includes treatment of CHF, alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, COVID-19, and post-procedure care (pacemakers, ablations, cath lab, and post-ICU cardiac surgery patients).
- Medications include non-titratable cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, and Nitro.
- May be required to float within competency to other units including ICU and medical-surgical.
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 guaranteed hours weekly)
- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and occasional additional shifts.
- No call requirements.
- May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period.
- Employer reserves the right to reduce shifts with 48 hours’ notice due to low census.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nevada
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Work Environment
- Extremely busy, fast-paced environment serving a large regional area.
- Level II Trauma Center with stroke accreditation.
- Patient volume and pace comparable to a Level I trauma center.
