Job Description

Critical care registered nurses provide care for patients with severe medical issues such as heart attack, stroke, shock, severe trauma, and respiratory distress. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing patient conditions and implementing care plans
  • Treating wounds and providing advanced life support
  • Assisting physicians with procedures
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs
  • Managing ventilators, monitors, and other medical equipment (including adjusting ventilator/IABP)
  • Administering IV fluids and medications
  • Suctioning
  • Collaborating with the critical care team
  • Responding to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols
  • Acting as patient advocate
  • Educating and supporting patient families
  • Caring for pre- and post-operative patients
  • Occasionally serving as case managers, policy makers, or performing administrative duties

Requirements

  • Licensure: Wyoming RN license or multi-state RN license required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years recent ICU RN experience in a hospital setting (highest required years of experience)
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS/ENPC required (TNCC preferred but not required); all must be through the American Heart Association
  • Patient Population: May occasionally care for pediatric/adolescent patients (no dedicated pediatric unit)
  • Flexibility: May need to float between Lander and Riverton campuses depending on census

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Candidates must submit required documentation and certifications to be considered
  • Experience with community hospital settings is relevant but not mandatory
