Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 24
- Number of Staff: 46
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:2 typical
- 1:3 for PCU boarders
- 1:1 for sitters or higher acuity patients (IABP, CRRT, open hearts)
- Unit Staffing: 1 CCT/US during day shift if >10 patients
- Documentation System: EPIC
- Scheduling: Straight nights or 50/50 (nights/days)
- Floating Policy: May float to PCU or as a sitter anywhere in hospital inpatient
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience (1 year strong experience may be considered)
- Cardiac nursing experience preferred
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Certifications & Licenses
- ACLS (Required)
- BLS
- NIH Certification
- Registered Nurse License
Typical Procedures Performed
- Rapid Sequence Intubations
- Central line placements
- Bronchoscopy
- Intubation
- Arterial line placement
- Chest tube placement
- Experience with ventilators, vasopressors, restraint use, arterial lines, and other ICU skills
