Respiratory Therapist Opportunity - Omaha, Nebraska
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapist
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC
- RRT or CRT required
- NRP & PALS preferred
Experience & Skills
- Must have experience with EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, and bedside spirometry
- Required years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard for CRT/RRT roles
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Patient Population & Work Environment
- Patient types: All ages (neonates to geriatrics)
- Work areas: Inpatient covering all floors and areas
- Hospitalist or Intensivist available 24/7
- Respiratory Lead Therapist present on each shift
- Traveler will not be the only RT in-house
Equipment Familiarity
- Ventilators: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
- Bipap machines: Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T
- High flow oxygen: Airvo2
Scheduling & Orientation
- Shift hours: 7 AM to 7 PM (team scheduling)
- Weekend requirements: Days every third weekend, nights every other weekend
- Holiday coverage: Rotate with permanent staff
- Floating: Required to float to different hospital areas in RT capacity
- Orientation: 3 shifts of 12 hours each
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Must have a valid driver's license at time of submission (used to verify candidate is outside a 50-mile radius)
- Radius rule: Candidate must live outside a 50-mile radius and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
- Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no extensions allowed
- Key attributes for success: Time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, teamwork, and willingness to learn
- Positive work environment with strong teamwork between RTs, providers, and nursing staff
