Job Opportunity: Surgical Services OR Tech

Location: Mountain Home, Idaho

Position Details

• Specialty: Surgical Services - OR Tech
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Surgical Services (OR Tech)
• Number of Suites: 2 (only 1 room running at a time)
• Work Areas: OR, Preop, PACU
• Shifts: Four 9-hour shifts per week
• Start Time: 7:00 AM if surgeries are scheduled; otherwise, estimated start and end times provided
• Orientation: 1 to 2 days unit/department specific orientation

Case Load & Schedule

• Average Cases per Day:

  • Monday & Wednesday: ~4 cases (mainly colonoscopies and endoscopies)
  • Tuesday: 3-4 GYN cases
  • Thursday: No scheduled cases unless emergent (travelers do not work Thursdays)
  • Friday: Around 5 cases
• Common Procedures:

  • Cholecystectomies
  • Appendectomies
  • Hernia repairs
  • Abdominal hysterectomies
  • Hysteroscopies
  • D&C
  • Colonoscopies
  • Endoscopies
  • C-sections

Requirements

• Certifications:

  • BLS Certification
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA
• Experience: Minimum 3 years surgical tech experience required
• Call Requirements:

  • Weeknight and weekend call coverage required (approximately 14 days of call per month)
  • 24-hour call coverage as needed on weekends and holidays
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
• Floating: Must be able to float to Preop and PACU to assist as needed

Work Environment & Additional Notes

• No charge nurse on shift; ANM oversees surgical services
• Staff expected to be present even if no cases are scheduled; may assist with tasks such as checking expirations or helping in ER (e.g., starting IVs)
• Small, collaborative team with a slow pace except Fridays which are busier
• Dress code: Surgical scrubs provided
• Housing: No onsite housing available; RV sites nearby; closest area with more housing options is Boise
• Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address
