ICU (Intensive Care Unit) RN

Overview

• Travel contract for experienced ICU nurses in Woodland, California.
• 13-week contract.
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California.
• 2 years of ICU experience.
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• PALS
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Must complete the Relias Dys exam within 24-48 hours before acceptance.

Unit Details

• ICU unit with 8 beds.
• Ratios are 1:1-2.
• First to float; expected to float to sister facilities and to MedSurg at Woodland.
• May also float to all other Sacramento facilities.
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but does break relief.
• Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictates.
• Vents are supported.
• Hospitalist or Intensivist is in house.
• RT and Pharmacy are available 24/7.
• IV team is not available.
• PACU is adjacent to the ICU.

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• Self-scheduling is used, but schedules are not finalized until the manager balances them.
• Block scheduling is generally not available.
• OT and extra shifts are available.
• Floor orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor.

Additional Notes

• Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets, if worn, must be navy.
• Travelers work 2 of the 3 major holidays.
• A driver’s license is needed at time of submission to validate legal name.
