CVICU RN

Overview

• 6-week contract
• Days, 12-hour shifts
• 48 hours per week
• Location: Houston, Texas
• Unit: C8B - CVICU
• 8A has 8-12 beds; 8B has 13 beds
• High-acuity unit
• Ratios: 1:2, occasionally 1:1

Required Qualifications

• RN
• ACLS
• BLS Certification
• NIHSS
• Experienced ICU RN
• CRRT trained
• Open to floating
• Flexible with scheduling; no self-scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• EPIC required
• Titration of drips required

Preferred Qualifications

• CRRT preferred, but training is available
• Previous travel experience
• 3+ years of experience
• Experience in a very busy hospital

Unit Details

• Busy, large Level 1 Trauma setting
• Common patient types include heart, lung transplant, LVAD, ACB, and valve surgery patients
• Intensivist model
• RT assigned to the unit
• Hardwire monitoring
• Charge RN usually has patients
• 1 PCA on the floor
• Teal scrubs

Scheduling and Float

• Scheduled based on unit needs
• 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks
• Will work any holidays they are willing to work
• No call or standby
• Floats out first depending on competency

Orientation

• 2-3 shifts with preceptors

Additional Notes

• Devices seen include LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP
• Daily parking is available at additional cost
