Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit) - Morgantown, West Virginia

Position Details

• Unit: 7 West (Stepdown & Floor)
• Beds: 32 total (12 Stepdown, 20 Floor)
• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Day: 12
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Work integrated into permanent staff holiday schedule
• Floating: May be required to float to any floor or stepdown unit
• Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs

Patient Population & Care

• Typical MedSurg diagnoses: Chest Pain, COPD, Altered Mental Status, Pneumonia, UTI, Abdominal Pain, hospice patients (including transition to GIP Hospice)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Stepdown: 1:3
  • Floor: 1:4 to 1:6
• Charge nurse available per unit; House Supervisor always available
• Nurse aides: 4 aides if fully staffed for 32 beds
• Telemetry monitors present; RNs must be able to read cardiac strips alongside telemetry monitor techs
• Drip infusions managed on Stepdown unit; Floor unit manages PCAs, heparin, and similar infusions
• Respiratory therapy equipment managed by RT staff

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current BLS certification required
• Must hold an active RN license

• Previous travelers must have been off the unit for 2 years after completing a full year assignment

• Travel teams must be submitted together
• All submissions must include an unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license
