Job Description

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you will work under the supervision of a registered Physical Therapist to provide physical therapy services according to patient care plans. Responsibilities include:

• Providing treatment prescribed by a physician and following evaluations by a Physical Therapist.
• Treating patients to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain performance using physical methods such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
• Assisting patients with active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait and functional training, activities of daily living, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
• Using equipment such as ultraviolet and infrared lamps, low voltage generation, diathermy, and ultrasonic machines.
• Observing and reporting patient reactions and changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Teaching patients and caregivers self-care techniques.
• Coordinating use of equipment available to patients.
• Completing accurate clinical notes and documentation in a timely manner according to agency standards.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Vermont and New Hampshire or hold a compact license.
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience as a PTA in a home health care setting.

• This role involves providing home health and hospice physical therapy services.
