Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist provides diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients, helping them reach their maximum performance level and function within their community to the fullest extent possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide consultation on environmental design, adaptive equipment, patient positioning, and splinting.
• Administer and write patient evaluations according to departmental standards.
• Maintain timely and accurate patient records and reports.
• Design and administer treatment programs to improve strength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination.
• Instruct patients in adapted techniques and use of adaptive equipment for daily living skills.
• Train patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices.
• Participate in home assessments.
• Provide therapy for neurological integration and sensor-motor integration treatment techniques.
• Design individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients.
• Administer treatment programs for orthopedic, neurologic, cardiac, and balance disorders.
• Provide prevention therapy and instruct patients and families on energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques, and proper transfer methods.
• Administer prevocational programs to prepare patients for work settings.
• Design home programs and instruct patients or families on their implementation.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.
• One year of experience preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply.
• Current valid Washington State Occupational Therapist license or in the process of obtaining.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports and presentations.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions in different formats.
