Job Opportunity: IMC - RN - Ambulatory Care (Brooklyn, NY)
Job Summary
Provide treatment adherence education and Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) for HIV ART medication and Hepatitis C medication to support viral suppression goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Educate patients on prescribed medications, including potential side effects, and document education in medical records.
- Dispense medication as ordered (daily, weekly, or biweekly).
- Document all DOT encounters on log sheets and according to policy.
- Report and document patient-reported or witnessed side effects to medical providers the same day.
- Obtain medication orders and communicate with pharmacy as liaison between pharmacy and provider.
- Store ART medication securely.
- Monitor patient adherence to treatment plans; notify providers of non-adherence and document communications.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and quality assurance/improvement projects.
- Attend HIV/AIDS forums and staff meetings to stay current on developments.
- Maintain updated DOT patient lists and schedule/reschedule DOT sessions, including outreach for missed appointments.
- Assist Primary Care Nurse with triage and nursing duties, including coverage during absences.
- Perform vital signs, screenings, patient education, medication administration, point-of-care testing, and other clinic nursing duties.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, restocked, and equipment is functioning.
- Order medical supplies monthly and as needed.
- Prepare daily interdisciplinary team huddle sheets.
- Perform prior authorizations as needed.
- Other duties as required.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Experience
- 1 to 5 years of experience in HIV treatment education and Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) services.
Prior Travel Experience
- Not specified (assumed not required).
Required Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Required Skills
- Computer literacy in Excel and Word.
- Good communication and writing skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and bend during work.
- Experience with electronic health records.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
