Job Opportunity: Staff Nurse Specialty Care

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, healing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
  • Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
  • Administer medications safely according to policy.
  • Manage resources effectively including staffing, time, and supplies.
  • Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
  • Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
  • Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
  • Support learning for new employees and students.
  • Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
  • Participate in Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Nursing Experience: 6 months to 3 years of RN experience (highest requirement considered: 3 years).
  • Strong collaboration, communication (verbal & written), judgment, critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning, problem solving, quality focus, reliability, safety, and risk management skills.

Education & Licensure

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
  • Certifications: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
  • Unit-specific certifications may be required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC).
  • Preferred Certifications: CCRN and other relevant skills certifications as required by assigned unit.
