Job Opportunity: Surgical Nursing / Orthopedic Staff RN

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to assigned patients using the nursing process within established standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess young adult, adult, and elderly patients.
• Provide pre and post-operative care for general, bariatric, orthopedic, trauma, neurosurgical, genitourinary cases.
• Manage pain and administer medications.
• Perform chest tube care/insertion, PEG, G-tube, J-tube care, traction, and drainage care (Percutaneous, Sump, Jackson Pratt, Hemovac).
• Access and manage central lines, specialized IV drips and titration, IV therapy, IVADD, transfusion therapy.
• Conduct NIH Stroke Scale and KODA assessments.
• Demonstrate competency in specialized procedures and equipment.
• Assist physicians with procedures.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, and responses.
• Provide individualized, age-specific care supporting hemostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiologic functioning.
• Treat patients and families with respect, maintain confidentiality, and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Formulate and evaluate teaching plans for patients and families.
• Supervise and allocate work to other healthcare staff; serve as team leader and role model.
• Function as a preceptor to orient new employees.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
• Maintain patient care equipment and ensure adequate supplies.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, personnel guidelines, and dress code.
• Perform housekeeping and assist with patient transportation as needed.
