Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week


Job Summary

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients recovering from surgery in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Care ranges from simple to complex health problems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned group of patients in PACU.
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments; update changes in physician orders.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitor and obtain physiological data; observe patient conditions and intervene as needed.
  • Administer medications, initiate and regulate intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
  • Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
  • Make referrals for patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), including pediatrics PACU and Level 1 trauma patient care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
