Occupational Therapist NICU
Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Travel - Clinical Allied Health
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Shift: 8 AM start, 1 weekend per month
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Job Description
- Provide Occupational Therapy interventions to NICU patients under supervision, including assessment, care planning, patient and family education, scheduling, documentation, and issuing adaptive equipment.
- Deliver age-appropriate care focusing on fine motor skills, self-help skills, development, and durable medical equipment needs.
- Coordinate with case managers for continuity of care post-discharge.
- Perform duties such as orienting new employees, instructing and evaluating therapy students, and assuming Charge Therapist responsibilities as needed.
- Maintain high-quality, safe, and cost-effective patient care while adhering to safety standards and department objectives.
- Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current California Occupational Therapy license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification (American Heart Association).
- Minimum 3 years of Occupational Therapy experience.
- Minimum 1 year of NICU-specific Occupational Therapy experience.
Additional Information
- Experience with patient assessment, care planning, and education in NICU settings is essential.
- Ability to document treatment accurately and manage scheduling effectively.
- Experience issuing and managing adaptive equipment.
- Prior experience in instructing and evaluating therapy students preferred.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
